Equipment used in offshore subsea petroleum production applications must be free of particle-based contaminants before they are installed for the life of the system. Particle-based contaminants lead to premature equipment wear, damage, or failure. Offshore platform operators require certification that confirms fluid cleanliness.

Since1962, Hach Ultra, the manufacturer of the HIAC GlyCount™ liquid particle counting system, has been the industry leader since their introduction of the first automatic particle counter based on the light extinction principal.

The portable HIAC GlyCount measures, stores, and reports glycol fluid cleanliness in a fraction of the time needed for traditional analysis methods. The GlyCount unit analyzes glycols from both manually collected samples and an inline mode that is directly connected to the pumping system. Rapid test results are as accurate as conventional laboratory based particle counters or microscopes. The unit is portable to allow point-of-use under actual operating conditions. Thus, it can provide quantitative results rather than subjective microscope-based particle data performed by personnel.

The GlyCount supports the contamination coding industry standards, including NAS 1638, SAE AS4059, and ISO 4406 reporting formats. Compatible with Transaqua HT, Oceanic HW540, HW443, and Pelagic 100 fluids, the GlyCount is indispensable in manufacturing, preparation, FAT, SIT, pre-commissioning, and operating conditions as the standard to monitor glycol cleanliness.

The HIAC GlyCount, coupled with best practices in sample collection and preparation, is quickly becoming the preferred method for establishing a fluid’s cleanliness. In less than 60 seconds and increased accuracy, the HIAC GlyCount ensures project efficiency and accuracy.

HIAC also offers a PM4000 On-Line Particle Monitor. The PM 4000 line offers real-time information for quicker decision making. Constructed for harsh environments it excels in high pressure and high temperature application and offers carefree maintenance.
